Funding Support is an independent consultancy that aims to improve the practice, application and understanding of funding and investment by supporting both those providing funding and those seeking funding with the right information, skills and support to make the best of their work.
The work of Funding Support is targeted at the third sector (including charities, voluntary and community organisations, and social enterprises) and funders/investors of the third sector.
An important aspect of all the work we do in supporting organisations is for them to learn from the experiences of developing applications or funding programmes, and therefore we look to work in partnership with you to not only improve the chances of funding now, but also in the future.
It is also important for us to remain objective in all our work, so that we are able to support fundraisers and funding and investment organisations. This also enables us to be honest within the work and support we provide to you, ensuring that you are made aware of any issues identified immediately.
Funding Support is now in its fifth year, and we conitnue to develop our skills and experiences to support and work with funders and the third sector.
James has worked within funding for over 15 years, working for the Community Fund, Big Lottery Fund and Children in Need before joining Regeneration East Midlands in 2008 as Director of Funding and Community Engagement. He currently works as a Trust and Grants Fundraiser for a third sector infrastructure organisation in the East Midlands region.
Over these years he has developed his skills and knowledge on both sides of the funding fence, from assessing grant applications and managing successful projects to supporting organisations in applying for funding, and securing funding for projects.
James has also studied for his work gaining an MSc in Grantmaking Management from the Cass Business School (part of the City University London), with his dissertation subject helping the Big Lottery Fund to develop its regional IT capacity in supporting third sector infrastructure.
James has also been a Director and Company Secretary for the East Midlands Funding Forum - a network of funding, investment and support organisation sharing good practice across the region.
For those larger projects and pieces of work we also link with other consultants and colleagues from around the region. A key element to us working together is our commitment to the sector and in wanting to make a difference for organisations and people in communities.
